Furrtastic
Isn't amazing how lighting can really make someones eyes just sparkle and draw the viewers attention. The expression on her face makes her look older than what she is and the way the shadow falls on the one side of her face helps age her as well. The focus of this photo is exactly what it should be which is her and only her, which is what all parents want out of a photo of their child.

Questions studio lighting
I plan on graduating in four years. My plans after graduation would consist of operating my own portrait studio. I have worked at a portrait studio for a year and gained much experience in that position on working with children and families. I have even shot photographs of a service dog. Also, one of my photographs is currently on a billboard in Greenville, Tx of Kelly J. Warren, MD. I would like to photograph families more on location using natural lighting. Perhaps, doing weddings, birthday parties and other celebrations. I enjoy touching people's lives. I photographed a month old baby and did an excellent job on that shoot. Later, the mother returned to the studio to get more photos of the baby. She was crying the baby's mom told me that the baby died. So, I was in tears and called my district manager to see if I could give some type of discount to them. But, the corporate world does not care who dies or what happens they just want some money. I was able to give the photos to them without charging the reorder fee. I was very disappointed that I was not able to just give them a disc of their baby's photos. That would have built a lasting relationship with the customer. Although, I wasn't allowed to give them the disc the baby's parents on a different occasion shook my hand and thanked me so much for the wonderful portraits I did for them. That really made me feel appreciated for the work I do.
My budget for myself after graduation my not be as high as others since I have a home (which has an extra room that I am turning into my personal studio), no credit card debt, and I have insurance. I will need to pay for student loans, car payment, everyday expenses of having two children, and my own personal needs. I believe my budget needs to be $36,000 a year.
I would require taking wood shop in order to make custom frames, or building sets. I still need more studio time in order to learn more lighting techniques. I will need video equipment in order to do weddings. I would also like another camera, so I will always have a backup. I currently have a computer, but I would like to have a laptop as well and incase of emergencies. I am also going to have to get the items that were recommended on this list for class. Lastly, I will need a printer. All the above items are costly. This is why I am considering going into psychology, so I can afford to do the photography as part time job, while I'm in school.
Recommendations
Emily Vaughn
My neighbor is my very best client. I have photographed birthday parties, ballet, cheerleading, holiday, newborn, and Facebook portraits for her and my portfolio.
Cindy Schneck
My adopted mother. I met her and her daughter 23 years ago. I began photographing her daughter Candace/ my sister when I was 14 and she was 4. I used to play dress up with her and take pictures of us when we were kids. I did a lot of work with Candace during my high school years when I used to babysit her all the time and I needed a model for my High school photography class. I photographed her wedding which took place in Hawaii and numerous other occasions.
Kristie Starr
My best friend from High school. Kristie modeled for my during my high school photography classes. I won an honorable mention at the national hermitage maritime museum of Va. in 1992 with a portrait I took of Kristie. I have most recently photographed her 2 beautiful baby girls Kera and Kacy.
Kasey Doss-Joslin/ Amy Doss
Former Manager from PictureMe Portrait Studios. I shot photos of her for training. Also, I did her families portraits at the portrait studio. I have had Kasey's mother Amy model for me. Kasey wants to have some pet portraits done soon.
Jessica Morales
Jessica and her children Drayvin and Riley-Belle currently model for me for photo shoots for assignments for school and my portfolio. I have taken baby shower photos and birthday photos for her. I am doing family portraits coming up soon.
A decent job that pays well and has benefits. I am almost thinking storm chasing could be really interesting. I took a video of the tornado which was about a mile away from my house. A job in a portrait studio. I would have been able to work at pictureMe as a manager but due to my schooling i was unable to take on that position. I have always wanted to work for playboy or celeberity portraits like Annie Leibovitz.
Other than working for myself these are possible candidates PictureMe Portrait Studio, JC Penny, Sears, Life Touch, Henington School Services, Kiddie Kandids, Six Flags, Texas Art Gallery and Tattoos in Greenville, Dallas Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum, Greenville Herald Banner, Dallas Morning News, various realty companies, hospitals doing newborn or autopsy photos.
I am willing to make money anyway I can with freelance or commission.
Over the holidays I did take a few photos not as much as I would have liked due to family illnesses and I am getting my camera lens repaired but I did manage to use my i phone and take some photos that I did sell to a family. Most of the art that I have observed has been for research for other classes and my fellow classmates art.
I do have a portfolio and most of my work is portraits. I enjoy capturing a moment in a person's life that they can keep with them for all time. I am willing to expand my portfolio to include other subjects like landscapes, architecture, and current media events.
Annie Leibovitz, Ann Geddes, and Sally Mann are my favorite female photographers. Lady Gaga's unique style has inspired me to make art and look at things in a different way. I was really inspired by movies like Legend, Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, and Psycho.
